LEANER, SLEEKER AND READY TO ROLL
The superior operating economy of the new International® LT® Series isn’t the result of the revolutionary International® S13 Integrated Powertrain alone. It also took painstaking engineering in a variety of areas, including the design of the cab. For on-highway trucks, airflow is incredibly important. Sometimes the smallest detail can have a huge impact on the overall coefficient of drag – or the efficiency of the airflow – and those details are only discovered in the wind tunnel or through computer simulations.
As a result, a new aero package was developed, and, when combined with the new S13 Integrated Powertrain, the new LT® Series can achieve up to a 15% gain in fuel economy* over the new LT® Series equipped with the first-generation International® A26 engine.
Aero package features:
- Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and fuel fill closeouts allow air to flow smoothly over the chassis skirts.
- Steer wheel closeouts and a modified lower skirt trim improves underbody airflow by restricting airflow through the wheel opening.
- A new roof extender improves airflow between the tractor and trailer gap.
